Meet the Lawyers of Continental Law Group: John William O’Brien, Esq.

by | Apr 5, 2022

2021 was a record year for Greater Boston’s housing market — and commercial real estate activity in the area soared. Not only did the industrial market surge, but the office market in downtown Boston made an impressive rebound, gaining momentum in the last quarter of the year. As Continental Law Group looks forward to more success in the months ahead, the firm continues to expand. CLG was pleased to welcome its newest attorney in November 2021, John William O’Brien, who joined the firm’s commercial real estate practice at a pivotal moment in CLG’s history.

Hailing from the Green Mountain State, John — who is also referred to as “Billy O” or “OB” by those who know him — graduated from Suffolk University Law School in 2021. While his position as an associate attorney with CLG marks the beginning of his law career, John’s passion for the law is an integral part of his heritage. The youngest in a large Irish-American family who has lived in Vermont for six generations, John is a third-generation attorney who is proud to follow in the footsteps of his father and grandfather, both of whom were lawyers.

While he was attending law school, John developed a keen interest in commercial real estate matters. He specifically focused his legal studies in this area of law by taking numerous courses on real estate, land use, and property development. During his time in law school, he also worked as a litigation research paralegal for an organization in downtown Boston where he conducted research on behalf of a network of law firms and other companies. Both his educational background and employment experiences have provided him with diverse knowledge and a solid foundation for his chosen area of practice.

In addition to his law degree, John holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from Providence College, where he graduated cum laude. Outside of work, John is a musician and music lover who enjoys playing both guitar and piano. He is also an avid sports fan and supporter of the New England Patriots, the Boston Celtics, and the Providence College Friars. When golf season is in full swing, you are likely to find John at one of the many courses in the Boston area when he is not in the office.

John continues to maintain strong connections with his home state of Vermont and currently resides in the North Shore of Massachusetts. He is admitted to practice law in Vermont and is pending bar admission in Massachusetts.
